I really love Bumblebees. They are just adorable aren't they? All big and round and fluffy and bumbly... They're easy to love.

Many of us know that according to some ideas of how physics work, Bumblebee seems to defy these scientific orders because they're bodies are big and their wings are small. Apparently, they should be able to fly. And yet, they do. I love this about them and I believe that brings us to our first symbolism with Bumblebee - they defy expectations, they defy odds and they defy what is believed possible.

Bumblebee lets all of us know 'whatever you think you know, you don't know. because look at me'. They really do inspire us to let go of rigid thinking, open our minds and allow ourselves to be surprised!

Bumblebee encourages us to own our individuality and to go beyond the limits of what people or our culture suggests for us. They tell us that we are capable and competent and that what we want is available to us. They bring a reassuring message of apparent obstacles moving out the way and triumph being within our grasp.

Bumblebee really brings home the message of: Go big, go further, go beyond everything - by being you.

Bumblebees are often some of the first bees out in Spring, I've even seen the occasional one during Winter, and this is because they are able to regulate their body temperature better than the other Bees. In my mind, they also have a fluffy jumper on keeping them warm but I'm not sure that is factually correct. They bring us a vibe of being able to lead the way, take those steps before other people do and be innovators and inspirers in the world.

Like all Bees, Bumbles are hard working and generally busy. That term Busy Bee comes from somewhere - it's because bees are productive and on the move. However, it's worth considering that Bees move with purpose. They're not encouraging mindless busy for the sake of distraction or escapism or for the glorification of busy. They're not rushing about without reason like headless chickens (or headless bees). They have focus and drive and they know what they're looking for and they are devoted to following through on that task. This is an energy that we can really bring into our own lives.

However today, I came across this resting Bumblebee in my garden, which you see in the accompanying photo. He was so adorable, all chilled out with his wings tucked in. He relaxed here for a while and re-energised before buzzing away. This was a beautiful reminder that even the busiest of Bumblebees need a break. We can remember that for ourselves too, that in order to feel stimulated and excited by the momentum, through all that movement, we can take breaks to recharge, so that we can actually enjoy all the great stuff that we've got going on.

I love Bumblebees x
